Kiskindha Nagar

If we look at the story of Ramayana, it travels from north to south.  The journey from Ayodhya to Lanka takes us to many places in India.  Most of the places that are found in the Ramayana, even today, traces of that period are preserved.

One such place is Kishkindha Nagar. The town of Kishikha was a kingdom of apes ruled by Bali, the brother of Sugriva. Shri Ram killed Bali and made Sugriva king. Hanumanji and Shri Ram first met in the forest near this city. Memories of that time live on in this area even today. The city is also a major center of tourism.

Now the town of Kishkindha of that period is still in the state of Karnataka. Koppal and Bellari are still found in the two districts of the state where the famous Kishkindha region of the Ramayana period existed.

Kishkindha was a part of Dandak forest:

.Here the small rocky hills are close to each other. Paddy is widely cultivated here. The river Tungabhadra is mentioned in the Ramayana. This river is still there and is counted among the major rivers of Karnataka.
In the period of Rama, Tretayuga, Kishkindha were the part of the Dandak forest. The expansion of Dandak forest started from Vindhyachal and reached the sea area of South India. When Lord Rama went into exile, he entered the Dandaka forest with his brother and wife. Sita was abducted by Ravana from here. Shriram came to Kishkindha looking for Sita.

   Rishimukh Mountains:
  .
At that time, Kishkindha was the land of apes. Whose king was Bali. When Shree Rama killed King Bali after that drove him out of the city. He settled on Mount Sajemak because Bali was cursed by Ashi that he would be killed if he climbed Rishimukh hill. Because of this, Sugriva always lived on this hill to save his life from his brother Bali

 Pampa Lake:
  .
Pampa Sarovar (lake) established by Brahmaji at the beginning of the universe. This lake was full of lotus flowers. The Ramayana mentions that Lord Rama and Lakshmana came in search of Sugriva. There is a temple of Goddess Lakshmi on the banks of Pampa Lake.

  Tungabhadra in Rishimukh:
  .
You have to cross the Tungabhadra river from the front to reach the Rishihmukh Mountain in a calm posture. Locals have built bridges with electric poles to cross the river.
This is the same hill where Sugriva sat with his four ministers in fear of Bali. Bali could not come here because of the curse.
Ravana abducted Sita and flew to Lanka f
Sita saw other monkeys like Sugriva sitting on this hill and her ornament fell off.  On this hill, Hanumanji befriended Lord Rama and Sugriva.
